06/07/25 | Comfort in a Click: My Toby Carvery Takeaway Experience| Ok, so I’m no stranger to a takeaway. That said, these days I’m watching my calorie intake and paying closer attention to my salt-to-potassium ratio. Last week, on my off day - what most would call a 'cheat day' - I was in the mood for some good ol’-fashioned British comfort. And it just so happened to be a Sunday. Doing what I do best, I hopped onto Deliveroo and spotted a Toby Carvery in my area. I’ve always passed by Toby Carverys while out and about and thought, “this place looks very homely”. Already craving a Sunday Roast, I was eager to try Toby Carvery. Curious to see if it lived up to the cosy charm I’d always imagined, I placed my order on Deliveroo, turned on Netflix and got myself comfortable while I patiently waited for my Sunday feast to arrive.

23/06/25 | In Conversation With... Lowri Ch’ng: Navigating Women’s Roles in Sustainable Engineering | In celebration of Women in Engineering Day , we’re thrilled to spotlight Lowri Ch'ng , a Risk Engineer working at the forefront of renewable energy. Lowri’s journey into engineering is as inspiring as it is unconventional starting with a BEng in Aerospace Engineering , her fascination with aerodynamics and wind tunnel experiments led her to discover a career that aligns with her personal values. From designing UAVs to assessing financial risks for offshore wind and battery storage projects, Lowri’s story is one of resilience, adaptability, and a deep commitment to sustainability. In our conversation, Lowri shares her insights on navigating a fast-evolving industry, overcoming challenges as a woman in engineering, and the importance of mentorship and collaboration in shaping a more sustainable future. 21/06/25 | Efes, Canning Town: The Turkish Spot That’s Off-Grid but On Point They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, and in my family, that rings especially true. For Father’s Day this year, we wanted to celebrate with good food and even better company, and oh yeah, and of course celebrate our dad. My family and I are a family of foodies through and through, and while our go-to for family meals is usually a buffet (where everyone can pile their plates high with favourites), this time we decided to switch things up. Instead of our usual all-you-can-eat setup, we opted for a sit-down meal at Efes restaurant for a traditional Turkish experience. And let me tell you this, it did not disappoint. Ordering 2 Efes 1 platters, here's how our Father's Day feast unfolded...

19/06/25 | Breaking Barriers, Building Legacy: A Juneteenth Conversation in Tech | As Juneteenth invites us to reflect on the ongoing pursuit of Black freedom, resilience, and joy, I sat down with my friend, Sean Lynch, whose journey through public schools, military service, and the world of Tech offers a powerful window into that legacy. Raised in Atlanta, Georgia - a city steeped in Black excellence, Sean speaks candidly about navigating the Tech industry as an African American man, the importance of representation, and how collective support has shaped his vision of freedom. In this conversation, Sean and I explore what it means to break barriers, uplift others, and carry Juneteenth’s message forward in our everyday lives.

19/06/25 | From Emancipation to Resistance: Why Juneteenth Still Matters | Today as we celebrate Juneteenth – the day when, 160 years ago, Union Army General Gordon Granger and 2,000 of his soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, to inform enslaved people of their freedom – we are reminded that freedom still remains a dream unevenly realised. On 7 February 2025, President Trump signed an executive order granting asylum to white Afrikaners from South Africa. Since the signing, 59 farmers were flown into Dulles International Airport in Virginia on a chartered U.S. government flight – all while cutting aid to that very nation, stoking fear with a baseless ‘genocide’ claim that South African Foreign Minister Ronald Lamola insists is untrue and has “no basis”. All of this is taking place at a time when 700 Marines and over 2,100 California National Guard troops have been deployed around Greater Los Angeles to protect federal buildings from protests and civil unrest. These demonstrations stem from what some would describe as racially motivated immigration raids on marginalised communities across LA. This stark contrast – a warm welcome for some and a militarised wall for others – lays bare the selective sympathy shaping US politics right now.

19/05/25| From Catwalks to Culture: Naomi Campbell’s Impact at the V&A The Victoria and Albert Museum, most commonly recognized as the V&A, is our nation’s national treasure. It was established in 1852 as the Museum of Manufactures, housed at Marlborough House in Pall Mall, before relocating to Somerset House in Central London. The cultural institution later reimagined itself in 1857 on Exhibition Road, South Kensington as the Victoria and Albert Museum in honour of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, reigning monarch and Prince Consort during the Victorian era. Sir Henry Cole, the V&A’s first director from 1857 to 1873, cited his vision of the V&A as being a “schoolroom for everyone.” 168 portraits later, our national treasure has transitioned into a global incubator of creative esteem, cultural awareness, and history reimagined. With its mission to be recognised as the world’s leading museum of art, design, and performance, I don’t think it came as too much of a surprise when it was announced that an exhibition celebrating world-renowned supermodel, humanitarian, and entrepreneur Naomi Campbell would be coming to the V&A from 22nd June 2024 to 6th April 2025.

12/05/25 | Mental Health Awareness Week: Managing Stress with Self-Awareness and Community | A couple weeks’ back, I joined a webinar hosted by MHFA England called, Start with you: Managing stress to strengthen your community . I came across this Webinar in MHFA England’s April newsletter and I’m so glad that I caught it in time. The webinar was brilliant. Facilitated by Jo Wood (Learning and Development Specialist at MHFA England) with guest speakers, Julie Castleman (Mental Health & Suicide Prevention Trainer) and Anna Gilchrist (Founder of Dei Sensi , a sensory-based practice), this webinar explored how we can better understand and manage stress in the workplace through self-awareness, practical coping strategies, and the science behind stress responses. It also introduced tools like the DRAMMA model and sensory regulation techniques - particularly the use of scent - to support resilience, recovery, and overall wellbeing.

05/05/25 | The Power of Presence: How First Aid Training Changed My Perspective | Are you interested in becoming a First Aider? I know — awkward silence. Sounds good on paper, but when you stop and really process everything, being a First Aider means you could find yourself in some truly distressing, downright scary situations. That’s a big responsibility, but one I’ve grown to feel is worth it. There’s something very prideful — and, without being too sentimental, very beautiful — about being in a position to help someone in need; to be the calm voice of reason or the comforting arm to hold on to. That’s the mindset I carried with me for this year’s First Aid training: a mix of nerves, duty, and a quiet sense of purpose.
