Timeline: MLK Jr's Personal Attacks and Achievements



- In September 1958, MLK published his book "Stride Toward Freedom: The Montgomery Story."


- In October 1958, while signing copies of his book at Blumstein’s department store in New York, a woman named Izola Curry stabbed MLK in the chest with a letter opener. MLK insisted she be sent to a hospital instead of jail.


- On December 10th, 1964, MLK won the Nobel Prize for Peace and received the award in Norway.
